The Ottumwa Legacy Foundation is proud to announce the launch of MarketStreetLanding.org, the official website for the Market Street Landing project. This initiative will revitalize Ottumwa’s Riverfront, turning underutilized parcels into vibrant community destinations that connect people, nature, and opportunity. 

Located along the north side of the Des Moines River, east and west of the Market Street Bridge, Market Street Landing will serve as a hub for recreation, economic growth, and environmental stewardship. With a focus on inclusivity and connection, the project aims to create a dynamic space that benefits all residents and visitors. 

Key features of the plan include: 

• Artistic Gateway Arch – A landmark entrance welcoming people to downtown Ottumwa. 

• Inclusive Play Space – A welcoming, accessible area for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. 

• Relocated Ottumwa Skate Park – Moving to Sycamore Park for enhanced recreational opportunities. 

• Riverwalk with Trail Connection – A scenic pathway promoting outdoor activity and access to the river. 

• Urban Housing Along the River – Future development opportunities for transformative Riverfront living. 

This initiative builds upon community-driven planning efforts dating back to 2011, with renewed momentum guided by the Ottumwa Legacy Foundation and the Riverfront Steering Committee.
