Two Retire From Legacy Board

The Legacy Foundation Board of Directors has recently retired two of its members, Byron Leu and Jeff Hendred.  Both men have completed their terms of service with the board as of December 2019.  “I cannot express how valuable Byron and Jeff have been to the Foundation, stated ORLF President Steve Dust.  “Both have uniquely epitomized the ideal board member with their engagement, passion and commitment to giving back to their community and ensuring its future.”

Byron Leu was a founding board member and was critical to building the organization from inception.  During his tenure he brought a wealth of expertise from a 25 year career with Iowa State University and many years of service to various nonprofits and service clubs.  Those that know Byron recognize and appreciate his sense of humor which has served the board well over the past 9 1/2 years.

Jeff Hendred joined the board in 2010 and has provided insight in many areas including education as he has been an educator throughout his career – currently serving as Principal of Wilson Elementary.  Jeff’s commitment to the Ottumwa community is unparalleled and those that have the privilege of spending time with him know that his positivity and can-do attitude are contagious.

While Byron and Jeff will be missed on the board they will remain active in Legacy Foundation work.  Byron is chair of the LCL Scholarship Selection Committee and Jeff will continue moving the Theater Placemaking project forward as a steering committee member.

We thank them for their confidence, service and friendship.
