The Legacy Foundation is proud to be one of the founding partners of C3 – Cradle College Career – an LCAN (Local College Access Network) in Ottumwa. C3 is focused on increasing the education attainment rate in Ottumwa and encouraging individuals to pursue a post-secondary education in the form of a college diploma/certificate, an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree or advanced degree.
One of the most recent initiatives of C3 has been to develop a marketing campaign to assist in creating a college going culture in our community. This campaign, “Prepare For the Possible”, went live in January and we are so excited about its message. The campaign features a landing page where students, parents or interested community members can access resources and acquire help with their college inquiries. The campaign also features digital ads and remarkable stories from local individuals who are making those college connections. Also front and center in the campaign are yard signs that can be placed at the home or business spreading the word about the importance of education beyond high school. If you would like one of these signs, please contact Emma Kain, C3 Coordinator for assistance.
We know that by 2025, 68% of all jobs will require an education beyond traditional high school. We also know that an educated workforce attracts high paying jobs and that communities with higher education rates are safer, healthier and even have more civic engagement. Those are just a few of the reasons why we support this initiative. And we are in great company, other partner organizations include:
Indian Hills Community College
City of Ottumwa
Ottumwa Job Corps
Sieda Community Action
Ottumwa Community Schools
Buena Vista University
United Way of Wapello County
John Deere Ottumwa Works
