Summer Cycle Bright Ideas Grant Recipients Announced

The Legacy Foundation is proud to announce the latest recipients of the Bright Ideas Community Enrichment Fund program.  Since the inception of this program, 99 nonprofits have received program and project support totaling over $3.5 million dollars.  During the latest grant cycle (Summer – Cycle 24), $125,000 was awarded to the following seven Wapello County nonprofit organizations:

Ottumwa Athletic Club Inc – funds to update the OHS weight room with new PowerLift equipment and flooring

Indian Hills Community College Development Corporation -Grant support from to update the outdated technology and equipment in St. John Auditorium including a computerized lighting console and LED console-controlled lighting.

American Home Finding Association – Grant funds to purchase items and renovate areas of the emergency youth shelter in Agency.

Iowa Legal Aid – Grant funds to support the implementation a Housing Justice Project to help low-income families obtain and remain in safe, affordable rental housing in Ottumwa.

Friends of NAS Ottumwa Inc – Grant funds to install a new forced air heating and cooling system (HVAC) for 1/2 of the Naval Air Station building.

Izaak Walton League: Ottumwa Chapter – Grant funds to add 12″ of insulation in the attic of the meeting house to lower utility bills, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

OHS Music Boosters Inc – Grant funds to assist with the purchase of a new French horn for the OHS band and jazz programs.

The Bright Idea Community Enrichment Fund has three competitive grant cycles each year. The next grant cycle opens September 15, 2019 and will close on October 15, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. (CST). Eligible organizations must have an IRS 501(c)(3) designation. Applications must be submitted through the Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation website at orlf.org.
