Men’s Cancer Information Program Series Announced

Often times men want to learn about the latest research and advancements in surgical techniques, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and solutions for dealing with the after and side effects of cancer treatments.  Unfortunately, sometimes this information is difficult to find.  It can also be beneficial to talk with other men who are dealing with similar issues but until recently there was no avenue for this to occur.  The McCreery Cancer Center now has a cancer networking group called Frankly Speaking which is a group for men, led by men.  Participating in this group will allow men the opportunity to learn about relevant topics from medical professionals, meet and share concerns and ideas, gather information and help others who are struggling.  Perhaps you have helpful hints or tips that could ease the way for another man on this journey.  On Wednesday, March 4th from 12:00 – 1:00, Frankly Speaking will be holding a Cancer Seminar for Men with speaker Dr. Aaron Smith.  The topic for this seminar will be “Prostate Cancer:  What You Need To Know”.  Lunch will be provided for those attending.  If you are interested in participating or have questions, please contact Joan Heslinga Boer, LMSW at 641.684.2742.  This initiative is supported by the Robert McCune Endowment.
