McCune Endowment Grants Announced

The Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation is proud to announce grants awarded to four organizations from the Robert McCune Endowment.  These grant awards total nearly $40,000.  The McCune Endowment was created in honor of community leader and philanthropist Robert McCune.  The funds from the endowment are restricted to assist cancer patients, facilities and programs in Southeast Iowa. A description of these grants follows:

Hospice of Wapello County – funding to purchase mattresses for Stryker beds

Indian Hills Community College – funding to develop continuing education conference for nurses and other health professionals charged with the treatment of cancer patients.  Potential topics include: use of cannabidiol treatment, immunotherapy, palliative care modalities and motivation/support techniques.  Conference to be held in Spring 2020.

Susan G. Komen – funding to support attendees of annual Komen Survivor Luncheon

McCreery Cancer Center – Funding to provide treatment completion recognition items, patient care comfort items, gas cards for transportation fund and subsidization of medical payments for underinsured/uninsured patients.  An additional part of the award includes funding of continuing education opportunities for health professionals providing radiology oncology treatment at the American Society of Radiation Oncology annual conference.

The Robert McCune Endowment is overseen by a volunteer advisory committee comprised of McCune family members, donors to the fund, health professionals and cancer survivors.  Requests for support are accepted throughout the year.  For more information, visit the McCune Endowment page at www.orlf.org.
