We are actively seeking a buyer for the Market on Main located at the corner of Main and Jefferson in downtown Ottumwa.  Included for sale is the Market on Main building and adjacent outdoor green space to the west.  While there has been interest and detailed discussions with potential future tenants of the building, a buyer has not yet been identified. 

The Market is currently the home of several food restaurants that provide valuable dining options for the community.  It is the desire and hope that these vendors will find new locations within the Central Business District of Ottumwa. 

In addition, the Market has held many events in the past and served as a busy entertainment venue.  Since the opening of the Market, several other venues have opened in the downtown that can adequately accommodate these programming opportunities – with similar space and hospitality.  The Legacy Foundation will be utilizing its contacts and relationships to identify new sites that may be mutually beneficial for the relocation of this programming.  The event schedule will be maintained through the end of the year.

Shiloh Seim, the Market on Main Operations Manager is a valued member of the Legacy Team and will remain with the organization to help lead other downtown initiatives.  The remaining Market on Main staff have previously been made aware of the impending sale in order to provide them ample time to pursue other employment.

Once an acceptable purchase agreement has been finalized, the public will be notified of the transition and future of this fantastic space.  The proceeds from the sale of the Market will be reinvested back into the community in a variety of ways, consistent with the Foundation’s mission.
