The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association was recently awarded funding from Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation to create a satellite museum in the Market On Main. The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Satellite Museum is slated to open June 23rd and will include memorabilia from Iowa’s rock ‘n roll history with exhibits focusing on legends of rock ‘n roll in Iowa, significance of Iowa’s ballrooms, the evolution of music recording, the history of Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association, the birth of rock, and many others.

Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation feels this partnership is a perfect opportunity for the community. “We are thrilled to expand cultural opportunities in downtown Ottumwa through this partnership with the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association. It is a perfect opportunity for the community to learn about Iowa’s rock ‘n roll heritage and the perfect venue to learn it in.” says Kelly Genners, Interim President/CEO & Vice President of Programs and Initiatives of Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation.

The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Satellite Museum’s opening will kick off with a live music event on June 23rd. Details will be released as they are finalized. Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association says this has been a long time coming. “The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is thrilled to expand our activities to Ottumwa. As a statewide association, we have talked for a long time about the importance of having a bigger presence throughout Iowa.” says Joe LeValley, Board Secretary. “Thanks to the generosity of the Ottumwa Legacy Foundation and the hospitality of Market on Main, this goal is becoming a reality.” The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association hopes this is just the beginning of satellite museums across the state.

Established in 1997 as the first state rock ‘n roll music association, the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is a statewide 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to preserve the legacy of rock ‘n roll music in Iowa by honoring achievements, educating youth, and inspiring artists.
